Kylie Hutton Herman (b. 1992 Nassau, The Bahamas) is a visual artist whose work is rooted in the movement of natural form. Through large-scale paintings, she explores themes of memory, time and transformation using organic shapes and patterns. Her work reflects an appreciation for the natural processes of growth, erosion and renewal, where irregularity becomes part of a larger whole. She has a preoccupation with wild, untamed landscapes and spaces reclaimed by nature. By inviting viewers to contemplate their own evolving states, her paintings hope to hold and offer a space of solace and connection. Working primarily with mixed mediums of acrylic and oil sticks, her style shifts toward abstract compositions shaped by layered mark-making and an expressive use of colour.
Kylie holds a Bachelor of Visual Art from The University of Western Ontario and worked as a graphic designer prior to her painting practice. These experiences in design inform her sensitivity to space, shape and colour.
Her work is held in private collections Nationally and Internationally, and has been placed in prominent commercial spaces including The Goldwynn in The Bahamas. Her studio practice is based out of Southampton on the shores of Lake Huron in Bruce County, Ontario, Canada.
